So stoked on Yucca root...

I'm so stoked on Yucca root (and the whole plant!)
FUCK YEA! It is the perfect supplement/food for running and lifting...and for many other things too...like balding...use it in your hair to keep that hair healthy, use it for extra energy, use it for joint problems, use it to purify blood, to clean up the colon, as a protein alternative, eat the root like a potato to provide the body with Vitamins C, B, A, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and iron, eat the flowers, use the plant as a soap, and the list goes on...go read up on it! You'll be just as stoked on this plant as I am...

I'll have to look more into Yucca. The supplements I take are:

Omega 3 Fish Oil Capsules - these are awesome in so many ways, but specifically for running they help the joints and act as an anti-inflammatory in a much safer way than painkillers, which is what most marathoners take. They also help the cardio system generally.
Vitamin C&E - Once you start doing some long runs (16-20+ miles) your immune system opens up for infection. These vitamins help to stop that, and vitamin E also helps the heart/cardio system in general.
Calcium - I don't get enough in my diet because I'm too lazy to make bone broths, but calcium is important to have strong bones to withstand the pounding they take on the pavement from running.
Siberian Ginseng - also called ciwuja. There are a lot of claims about this stuff, and I'm not sure how true they are, but this has been used for centuries in Chinese medicine to promote energy and stamina. One very evil and disgusting animal study showed that it took lab mice much, much longer to drown in a bucket of water if they took Siberian ginseng than if they had nothing or if they had caffeine. You need to rotate using this and not using it so that your body doesn't build a tolerance. i take this for two weeks leading up to a race and on and off through training.

Sardines, salmon, and certain eggs (from chickens fed a diet high in Omega 3's) all provide the fats needed-thank goodness all three our favorite protein sources of mine. I also take in olive oil, nuts, and flax.
I need to eat more broccoli and seaweed to get more calcium. I do get nut milks that are fortified with calcium but haven't been drinking much of them these days. I need to incorporate them back into my diet. Thank goodness for unsweetened almond milk.
Siberian Ginseng has a lot of the same benefits as American Ginseng-I have used it before...and what kind of sick fucks do studies like drowning mice in water with different substances? Fucking humans...I guess it is good news though, cause you know, next time I'm out swimming I want to be sure that my chances of drowning are slim to none.
