...4 miles today-on my favorite path. I'm tired. I think it's the rainy day! I love it. But it makes me want to lie down and sleep! I wish it would stay this way for a few weeks! Rainy with no Sun!!! It's only 75 degrees. That is cool for this time of the year down here-well compared to last year. This summer hasn't been so bad...I don't have much to complain about. I hope Hurricane season really brings in the storms. We'll find out in a couple of months.
I need to hit the gym to lift weights. I depend on lifting and running to increase bone density. Something that I'm concerned about-especially since I'm a woman. So I need to def get in the gym. It has been a week or so. Not good.
(Note: still have to tack on 2 more miles.)

Nice job this week, Yank. It looks like you're really starting to lock in with your running. Did you end up running the track last night?
Just got back from a 12 mile trail run. The way to train for an ultra is to do two semi-long runs back to back each weekend. So I started out with 18 yesterday and 12 today. I'll build that up to around 30 and 20. Running the little trails around here is a lot different than road running. Slower, but more muscle and agility focused. Deer flies suck ass.
So I'll call you guys tonight or tomorrow to chat and see what the deal is with you guys coming up for traditional ways. Maybe we'll have to do a running workshop.
We'll see if I have enough discipline to keep this log going, but I just signed up an account at Running Ahead . It's a publicly accessible (optional) training log that lets analyzes your runs with tons of statistics, graphs and charts, lets you map your runs, count the mileage on your shoes, logs your cross training and more that I haven't figured out yet.
So far I've only entered last week's data plus races. Check out the profile and sign yourself up.
Thanks Evan. I consider myself at the beginning because my running has always been random and not serious. I never paid any attention to my pace and/or how many minutes-miles that I ran before I decided to take it seriously...so yea, I'm at the beginning and the beginning sucks!
I can't complain though-at least I can run 5 miles pretty effortlessly-some people can't even run 1 mile at the beginning...I keep reminding myself of that...I can't wait to be doing 60 miles/week. That is my goal. To work up to 40 and then 50 and then 60 and on...
And I love rainy cloudy days and they are perfect to run in (minus the humidity) but these days are making me tired...like today! I'm making today a rest day.
Anyway, I haven't hit up the track yet. I'm def doing that this week. It has been rainy and I want to go when it is dry. I'll post about it when I do hit it up.
Funny how the trail runs feel so much better and almost like you can go on forever but you are much slower on them! I don't notice the difference until I compare my time on the concrete compared to my time on the trail. There's a bit of a difference between my pace.
I need to read up on tempo runs, interval runs, long runs, and so on. I know what each word means but I don't understand what pace I should be keeping for each, how many miles should be ran for each, and all that jazz. I try to sit and read about running but a couple of sentences into the book I get antsy and end up running instead! I need to sit and actually complete the reading so I can further understand the technical shit!
I would really like to come up for TW...we'll see.
I checked out that Running Ahead site. I plan to sign up. I have been using mapmyrun.com...but that only tracks runs...I would like to have something that tracks other workouts too.
Alright, off to read the rest of Marathon Training for Dummies!!!
New cross training program: 100 pushups . I know you'll be all about this. 6 week training program for any level to do 100 consecutive pushups.
Good training plans (see Runners World Plans for example) tell you how many miles and what your pace should be for each workout. You can also check out that McMillan Running Calculator to see what your training paces should be. Of course you may have to adjust to consider terrain and weather.
RE TW: if you can get a ticket to milwaukee and get a bus up to wausau, i can pick you up. i may be able to just pick you up in milwaukee, we'll see. maybe some of the milwaukee kids will want to come up?
So you are doing the pushup challenge? I'm going to do it. It's simple, and I like simple. I'll be sure to pass it on to others...Kevin can totally do this too.
Yea, I checked out that McMillan Running Calculator...and the chart is too complex for my brain. I'm going to look over it again and see if I can make sense of it this time around...
Also, I'll let you know about TW in a few weeks. I need to think if it will be a good idea for me to go. I want to go but we also are trying to save money-to have when we make the big move again-but um, if I do decide to go I'm thinking I might grab a ride with Parker and Jerome since they are closer...I'll let you know...
Yea, I looked at the Calculator again and it all makes sense! Now that I know what the fuck meters is!!! HAHA! Commies!
